About Us

Mission

The mission of the Gibson County Soil Conservation District is to promote practical and effective soil, water and related natural resource programs to all citizens in a timely fashion on a voluntary basis through leadership, education and cooperation.

General Information

We work in conjunction with Natural Resources Conservation Service, Tennessee Department of Agriculture, and the Farm Service Agency to promote the conservation of natural resources. We currently manage several different government funded cost share programs consisting of EQIP (Environmental Quality Incentives Program), TDA (Tennessee Department of Agriculture) - ARCF (Agricultural Resources Conservation Fund), WHIP (Wildlife Habitat Incentives Program), WRP (Wetland Reserve Program), CSP (Conservation Stewardship Program), GRP (Grassland Reserve Program), MRBI (Mississippi River Basin Initiative), and EWP (Emergency Watershed Protection). In addition, we are always pleased to provide technical assistance to Gibson County landowners in managing the conservation of their natural resources. We also work in cooperation with the Farm Service Agency to ensure that all farmland in Gibson County has a conservation plan and that the landowners and operators comply to its guidelines.
